Lot 17: “WORSHIP” BY CHARLES PECK ART GLASS: On the banks of the Gallatin River, Chuck creates glass art pieces that collect, reflect and transmit light in special depth. This piece was created with some of the crystalline aspects of Montana in mind–snow, ice and water with a deep blue sky. Artist’s Statement:
“Glass as an artistic medium interests me because it represents both permanence and fluidity, because it is a mysterious substance and one which represents ancient traditions, and because it both transmits and reflects light in interesting ways as a three dimensional material. My pieces are never static because they change constantly with the changing light of the day. My work is largely abstract, but is influenced by themes from the cosmos and from nature. Some of my pieces are inspired by cosmic phenomena such as galaxies, while trees and rocks and geological patterns are on my mind in other pieces. Spirituality and the mystery of existence are often in my thoughts while I work. I am driven to share my view of the world with others through my art.” (www.charlespeckglass.com)
