The Montana Land Reliance owes much of its effectiveness over the years to the passion and vision of three women: Amy Royer, Mary Hanson, and Lois Delger-DeMars. Amy and Mary allowed us to tag along with them as they made field visits. Lois—who, according to many at MLR, does more than anyone to keep the organization running smoothly—took time from her busy schedule to chat with us. Through their eyes we get a glimpse of the Land Reliance at work. We also get insight into our relationships with the remarkable landowners—people like Jessie Clemans, Dennis Williams, and Bryon Donics—whose commitment makes MLR what it is.
